Sample Transferred Film Footage
Back to Updates

Here is a brief sample Super-8 film from 1982 that I transferred:

The infant in this film is me! The footage is a little out of focus and was contrast-enhanced after capture, though you can see the film grain at 720p HD quality and how high of quality the transfer is. Note that these clips are highly compressed for viewing on the Internet. Films transferred and authored to Blu-ray disc will be higher quality. For the closest representation of the actual capture quality you can view the clip full screen in 720p HD resolution here. Be sure to specify 720p HD for quality at the bottom-right of the video player frame.
Transfers are performed using a Tobin Cinema Systems TVT-8PHD video transfer machine. Films are captured frame-by-frame, losslessly encoded, and captured with a high definition (960p) CCD camera with a cold halogen light source, a higher quality light source than LED-based lights of other machines. That all ensures a crisp, high quality image, bringing old films to life on modern, high definition displays and formats like Blu-ray.

Here is a second brief sample film from the early 1970s that I transferred:

Here is a third brief sample film from 1973 that I transferred:

Here is a fourth brief sample film. This film is actually regular 8mm film, not Super-8, so it's a little bit lower resolution:
